Our team brings together technologists, researchers, policy practitioners, designers, and artists to center perspectives often excluded from mainstream technology discourse.

Asma Derja (she/her)

Founder & Director
Spain

Asma Derja founded the Ethical AI Alliance to advance AI governance grounded in human rights, institutional accountability, and pluralist perspectives.

She brings over 15 years of experience in technology strategy and institutional transformation, including work inside the headquarters of major technology organizations and leading cloud infrastructure implementation at scale.

Originally from North Africa and now EU-based, her work is shaped by lived experience across regions, cultures, and governance contexts where power asymmetries in AI development are acutely felt. She focuses on applied governance and institutional design rather than compliance-driven approaches.

At the Alliance, she provides strategic direction and convenes a transdisciplinary community working on practical AI governance frameworks. She regularly engages with policymakers, civil society, and industry actors, and contributes as a keynote speaker, author, and guest lecturer.

    United Kingdom

    Sidrah Hassan is an AI ethicist with experience designing and leading responsible AI and governance programs across multiple sectors. Her work focuses on governance frameworks, risk assessment, and responsible deployment practices. At the Ethical AI Alliance, she contributes to ethics and governance work across programs.

  • Vikram Subramanian

    Switzerland

    Vikram Subramanian is a software engineer with more than two decades of experience working in large technology organizations. His work focuses on the ethical and human rights implications of AI and cloud infrastructure deployed at scale. At the Ethical AI Alliance, he contributes to research and accountability work on AI harms and institutional responsibility.

    Ellen is a tech policy specialist with experience working in civil society on digital regulation in the UK and EU. Her work focuses on online safety, disinformation, and technology-facilitated violence, with attention to regulatory and governance mechanisms. At the Ethical AI Alliance, she contributes policy analysis and regulatory expertise to support applied AI governance work.

    Rebecca Y. Gonzales is an executive advisor specializing in AI and emerging technologies, with experience working at the intersection of enterprise strategy, governance, and public-interest considerations. She advises the Ethical AI Alliance on responsible AI adoption, organizational accountability, and the integration of human rights principles into technology strategy.

    Jumleena Bhagawati is a designer and researcher working on ethical AI, participatory design, and futures-oriented inquiry. Her work centers on data visualization and collective sense-making around AI harms. At the Ethical AI Alliance, she supports the AI Harm Map and related research initiatives.

    Morocco

    Ayoub Samadi is a policy researcher focused on AI governance, accountability, and harm assessment. His work centers on researching cases for the AI Harm Map and developing monitoring frameworks that move beyond compliance to impose meaningful constraints on harmful AI deployment. At the Ethical AI Alliance, he contributes research and analysis supporting accountability-driven AI governance.

    Poland

    Dominika Łykowska is a policy analyst and researcher working on AI governance, accountability mechanisms, and harm monitoring. Her work focuses on researching cases for the AI Harm Map and developing frameworks that move beyond compliance toward enforceable constraints on harmful AI systems. At the Ethical AI Alliance, she contributes research supporting applied accountability and governance work.
