What We Do
Our Mission
We are dedicated to harnessing AI to advocate for peace, justice, and collective liberation, with a specific focus on countering and preventing AI misuse in conflict zones like Palestine. We aim to create and promote the "Justice Begins With Us" charter, rallying the global tech community around ethical AI applications that respect human dignity and elevate marginalized voices. By developing this charter, we seek to establish a framework that guides the tech community in supporting ethical practices that enhance the representation and support of underrepresented communities in such crucial settings. Our engagement at the AI for Good Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, serves as a pivotal platform to present and gather support for this charter, seeking to form a broad coalition endorsing ethical AI use with human-centered oversight, especially in conflict settings. This effort lays the groundwork for a grassroots movement that integrates technology with activism, aiming at peace and justice starting with Palestine.
the Charter :
Our 10 Principles
Human Dignity and Rights: AI applications must respect and uphold the fundamental dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or other identifiers.
Transparency and Accountability: Developers and users of AI systems must operate with transparency and be accountable for the impact of their technologies on society, ensuring clear communication and oversight mechanisms.
Equity and Inclusion: AI technologies should be designed and deployed in a manner that promotes equity and inclusion, actively seeking to mitigate biases and address historical injustices.
Community Engagement: The development and deployment of AI systems must involve meaningful engagement with affected communities, centering their voices and perspectives throughout the process.
Data Privacy and Security: AI systems should prioritize the protection of data privacy and security, with robust safeguards in place to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or exploitation of personal information.
Fairness and Non-Discrimination: AI algorithms must be designed to mitigate biases and avoid perpetuating discrimination, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for all individuals.
Human-Centered Design: The design and implementation of AI technologies should prioritize human well-being and autonomy, empowering individuals and communities rather than undermining their agency.
Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility: AI development and deployment should consider environmental impacts, striving for sustainability and minimizing carbon footprints throughout the technology lifecycle.
Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention: AI applications in conflict zones should prioritize peacebuilding efforts, avoiding the exacerbation of existing tensions and promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and non-violent conflict resolution.
Ethical Governance and Oversight: Robust governance structures and oversight mechanisms must be established to ensure the ethical use of AI, with accountability measures in place to address violations and promote continuous improvement.
